Conference Overview

The SOEHPON Annual International Scientific Conference and Exhibition of the Society of Occupational and Environmental Health Practitioners of Nigeria, is bringing together occupational, environmental and public health professionals, researchers, policymakers, institutions, industry leaders and innovators from across Africa and beyond. The conference will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, from 23–26 November 2026.

Digital Transformation and AI: The Future of Occupational and Environmental Health Practice in Africa

The conference explores how digital technologies and artificial intelligence are reshaping occupational and environmental health systems, workplace safety, environmental monitoring, disease surveillance, workforce development and health governance across the continent.

The conference recognises that the future of work, environmental protection and public health increasingly depends on data-driven systems, smart technologies and innovative policy frameworks. Against this backdrop, SOEHPON AISCE 2026 aims to provide a platform for collaboration, innovation, practical learning and strategic dialogue among stakeholders in health, industry, academia and government.

The conference is structured around four major thematic pillars:

1. AI, Data and Digital Monitoring for OEH

This track focuses on how artificial intelligence, digital surveillance systems, wearable technologies, IoT devices, GIS mapping and predictive analytics can improve occupational and environmental health practice. Discussions will include digital hazard monitoring, remote sensing, climate and environmental surveillance, and early warning systems for disease outbreaks and disasters.

2. Workforce, Skills and Digital Literacy

This theme examines how Africa can build the human capacity needed for digital transformation in occupational and environmental health. Topics include digital literacy, curriculum innovation, AI training for professionals, future workforce competencies and institutional partnerships.

3. Ethics, Governance and Equity in Digital OEH

This section addresses responsible and inclusive use of AI and digital technologies. Discussions will focus on data privacy, governance frameworks, equity of access, ethical worker surveillance and regulatory considerations within African contexts.

4. Implementation, Policy and Impact of Digital Solutions

This track highlights practical implementation and policy integration. Sessions will explore digital health interventions, national digital health strategies, innovation ecosystems, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, investment opportunities and the environmental impact of emerging technologies.
